Why You Need To Prioritize Lighting At Your Next Event.

There’s a reason why movie directors call for LIGHTS!, first before anything else, it’s all about the mood baby. Lighting really can make or break your event. Today Aura is dishing 3 ways to properly use lighting in your event.

MOOD/ENERGY
You only get one chance to make a lasting impression on your guests and that starts when they walk into the venue. The very first thing they’ll notice, whether they realize it or not, is the lighting. Is it harsh or soft? Romantic or bright? Incandescent or fluorescent?

The mood and atmosphere is entirely dependent on the lighting of the venue as it sets the tone of the rest of the night. Knowing how to properly set the lights throughout the different stages of your event is also crucial, e.g. performances, video tributes, speeches. Consult with the venue manager to ensure all of your lighting and technical needs can be met without issue.

DETAILS
You’ve worked pretty hard planning this soiree and we’re guessing you’re going to want memories of your event in the form of pictures or video. Professional photographers/ videographers require specific lighting in order to properly document your memories. Depending on the type of event you’re throwing your crew may bring their own lighting equipment for weddings or Bat Mitzvah’s. Be sure to discuss ahead of time the type of lighting they’ll require and get confirmation from your venue.

Portable photo booths are a great addition to capture memories and most modern ones for rent today have professional lighting installed above the camera to ensure high quality photos.

CONTINUITY
By using specific lighting techniques or colour schemes you can easily create continuity throughout your event.

-Pin lighting is a great technique that event planners use to make the space appear larger than it actually is. This technique also adds drama and elegance to your room.

-Spotlights are ideal for performances or to draw guests attention to a speaker.

-Uplighting is a technique used to illuminate objects or spaces from the bottom up. This also adds a touch of drama and intrigue to the room.

-LED décor is a fun and inventive way to add more colour to your event. LED is also the greenest way to light your event as it uses a tiny fraction of power as what regular lights would use.

-Illuminated logos or imagery is gaining popularity and is a creative and eye catching display piece.

Glow balls, orbs, giant cubes, LED Birch tree's and glow pillars are just a few examples of our LED furniture and décor that has been used at events around the city such as TIFF, Jays Care Foundation and Harry Rosen plus countless weddings, tradeshows and more casual, everyday events.
